What is Orthodoxy?

The word “orthodoxy” is a slippery term.  What do we mean when we use the word?  In an excerpt from The Heresy of Orthodoxy Andreas Kostenberger offers this definition of the expression which is gloriously Christo-centric,

correct teaching regarding the person and work of Jesus Christ, including the way of salvation, in contrast to teaching regarding Jesus that deviates from standard norms of Christian doctrine.

Love it!  Right doctrine always has the person and work of Christ as its standard!

Speaking of orthodoxy, biblicaltraining.org has an offer for a free ebook, A Pocket Guide to New Testament Theology, by Prof. I. Howard Marshall, on their website.  You can read it online if you don’t use an iPad or eReader.
